What’s New in SmartInspect 4 : User Interface

We’re getting ready to launch the Beta version of SmartInspect 4 so we wanted to give a little sneak peek of what we have coming.

This is the first of a number of posts coming between now and release, this one focused on UI changes. As a beta, everything we talk about is prone to change before release. In the case of these User Interface changes, there are still a few tweaks that we’re making to colours and sizes, but for the most part we think it’s pretty settled. Your feedback during the beta will tell us whether we are right.

For SmartInspect 4, the Console now fully supports high DPI scaling on high-resolution screens. All images have been replaced with modern, multi-res versions. If you run Windows scaled, the Console forms and images scale nicely, staying crisp and readable regardless of the scaling level.

Here’s a shot of the Console with Windows scaling set to 200%.

Further, we have introduced a Dark mode, for those people who find the light background too hard on the eyes. You can specify Dark or Light mode, or alternatively have the Console automatically follow the Windows setting.

The eagle-eyed amongst you might notice some other changes in the screenshots above, but they’ll be covered in the coming posts.

Once released, the SmartInspect 4 Beta will be available to anyone who has an active Subscription, just like any other new release.
